Caring for Your Jewelry
Caring for Your Jewelry
I put a great deal of thought and time into each piece I create, and with care, your jewelry will continue to age beautifully and tell its story for years to come. Different metals and stones have their own personalities, so here’s how I recommend looking after them:
General Care
- Take your jewelry off before swimming, showering, or working out—moisture and chemicals can be harsh on metal and stones.
- Keep pieces in a soft pouch or box so they don’t scratch each other.
- Apply lotions, perfumes, and sprays before putting on your jewelry.
- A soft cloth wipe after wearing goes a long way in keeping each piece clean.
Silver
Sterling silver naturally develops a soft patina over time. If you prefer a bright shine, gently polish with a silver cloth. For a deeper clean, use mild soap and water, dry well, and store away from humidity to slow tarnish.
Brass
Brass will deepen in color as it’s worn, giving it a warm, lived-in look. If you like it brighter, a quick polish with a jewelry cloth will bring back the shine. Avoid chemical cleaners—they can strip the finish.
Gold
Gold is low-maintenance but still appreciates care. Wash gently with warm water and a drop of mild soap, rinse thoroughly, and dry with a soft cloth. Store it on its own to keep the surface scratch-free.
Pieces with Gemstones
Gemstones need a gentler touch. Use a soft, damp cloth to clean around the stone and avoid soaking or using abrasives. Always store gemstone jewelry separately so the stones and settings stay safe.
These pieces are meant to be worn and enjoyed, and they’ll develop character as they go through life with you. With these simple steps, your jewelry will age gracefully alongside you.
